The Fourfold Path is the basic core-teaching of Happy Science: the principle of Love Wisdom Self-Reflection and Progress. It is a proven method that leads us to a state of genuine happiness.
Love
It is not the kind of love that you can expect to receive from others. The love practiced at Happy Science is a love that gives without any expectations or conditions. At Happy Science, we learn ‘a love that gives’ in developmental stages such as spiritually nurturing love and forgiving love. Real love is based on the understanding that we all have the same divine-nature.
Wisdom
It is to awaken to real knowledge which is spiritual Truth. Happy Science’s teachings are universal and is the ultimate study guide for humanity in the 21st century on-wards. Through putting this knowledge into practice we can cultivate wisdom and uncover the infinite wellspring that exists deep in each of us. This wisdom becomes a great power that can solve any difficulties in life.
Self-Reflection
In essence, we have a divine-nature that shines brilliantly just like a diamond. Just as a diamond will collect dirt if it is neglected, so our divine-nature, or soul, inevitably accumulates dust and dirt as we live in this earthly world. To polish our souls, it is important to learn how to practice self-reflection through a step-by-step method like the Eightfold Path.* Through reflection, we can learn from our mistakes, release attachments, increase our enlightenment and allow our divine-nature to shine brilliantly once again.
- The Eightfold Path consists of Right Seeing, Thought, Speech, Action, Livelihood, Effort, Mindfulness and Concentration.
Progress
It is to develop yourself into someone who can guide others, society and to generally make this world a better place. It is to understand that helping yourself truly helps others. True progress is always blessed with a genuine feeling of happiness, and real success is being able to spread this happiness to many. The destination for each one of us, ultimately, is towards supporting and working together to create a utopia.
