Ryuho Okawa

Master Ryuho Okawa, founder of Happy Science, has devoted his life to the exploration of the Truth and ways to bring happiness to people all over the world. Master was born in 1956 in Tokushima, Japan. After his graduation from the University of Tokyo he joined a Tokyo-based trading house. While working at its New York headquarters, he studied finance at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

On March 23rd 1981, Ryuho Okawa achieved Great Enlightenment and awakened to his mission to bring happiness to all humanity. Master Okawa’s teachings are based on leading a life according to the Fourfold Path of Love, Wisdom, Self-Reflection, and Progress. His teachings combine Eastern and Western philosophies with a universal outlook that transcends religious, cultural, ethnic and traditional boundaries. The teachings incorporate all truths discovered by enlightened prophets and messiahs of past history and applying their teachings for today’s world. Thus, in order to convey his message and the Truth to the public he established Happy Science in 1986.

He is known for his wisdom, compassion, and commitment to educating people to think and act in spiritual and religious ways. Currently, Master Okawa has published over 600 books, including The Laws of the Sun. Many of his books are best-sellers and have sold millions of copies, and some have even been made into full-feature movies.

The members of the organization follow the path he teaches, ministering to all worldwide.
